Remembering Brazil🇧🇷

Twitter (X if you’re an annoying Musk bro) recently had the unthinkable happen…IT WAS BANNED IN BRAZIL💔 I immediately had to go to my close personal Brazilian source to not only send my thoughts, support & condolences to his people, but to also ask for him to translate “the day the music died” into Portuguese.

I personally joined Twitter in 2009 because of Miley Cyrus. It’s where I’ve met a lot of my closest friends whether it was following each other 1st & eventually meeting at a concert, or making friends at a concert & having to follow each other IMMEDIATELY if we clicked. (Favorite rare instances occasionally realizing we already followed each other & finally putting a real face AND voice to an account) It’s historically been THE platform for Brazilians to iconically tweet “COME TO BRAZIL🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷”

As an ally, I will occasionally tweet a celebrity asking them to go to Brazil in your honor. I won’t let you be forgotten, & I will also do my best to hold myself accountable & not do it too often where I overstep my allyship. Brazilian fans are HUGE reasons why so many pop girlies are able to get the followings they do because they are publicity MACHINES. Once upon a time, being asked to go to Brazil and/or having a Brazilian fan account made for you became important milestones for celebrities as an indication to “making it”. We will always remember your contributions to not only Twitter, but pop culture at large, & hope for your ability to return, but until then…I hope one day one of you will be able to ask ME to go to Brazil.🇧🇷😔✊🏼

PLEASE Respect (and house?) Chloe Sévigny!!!

I could honestly rant about the overall societal disrespect towards Chloe Sévigny for a WHILE…but one issue at a time. FIRSTLY when Variety booked her for their Actors on Actors series but then had the AUDACITY to pair her with…Kim Kardashian???? Not only someone who could barely JUST MAKE the legal title of Actor, but a famously documented scab??!!! During the WGA & SAG-AFTRA strikes, Kim’s season of AHS only halted for a VERY short period of time. She literally crossed picket lines to enter & exit filming locations, not to mention that Kim’s actual acting experience is minimal. Things went…just about how you’d probably expect.

While I don’t blame Kim for doing a season of American Horror Story considering it was just offered to her, but to do Actors on Actors with clearly not even TRYING is the most infuriating part. Personal feelings/opinions aside, just look at their IMDb profiles, this pairing is nonsensical. A MUCH more interesting pairing who would’ve gotten equally if not more attention, would’ve been to have Chloe opposite Lady Gaga. A real loss to not have had THEM 2 talk about American Horror Story, not to mention Gaga’s literal award winning performance. What a waste. I could truly write a booklet about this, but I do have a potentially pressing concern for Chloe… 👀

Chloe Sévigny shouldn’t have to ask instagram for leads on an NYC sublet! WHERE is the respect??? WHERE is the celebrity handout??? She’s an icon, she can’t just stay ANYWHERE! Hopefully she’s found a place to rest her head, but if you can, PLEASE check that Chloe Sévigny has been housed!!! In the words of Nene Leakes after she visited Kenya Moore’s 1st onscreen home:

Speaking of house arrest-this may be my 1st year ever watching Dancing With the Stars! Never have I ever before watched an entire episode, just clips online. Who is the star who’s convinced me to finally watch this show? None other than president & founder of the Anna Delvey Foundation…Anna Delvey!!!

Is she still on house arrest despite flying across the country in order to film this show? Yes-hence the ankle monitor. Trends really are cyclical because I remember being a young Lindsay Lohan fan when she asked designers on Twitter to please make something so that HER ankle monitor could be cute. Chanel heard her cries & they accepted the challenge to make ankle monitor bags that walked down the runway.

Just another 2008 trend that may or may not come back…would LOVE to know if anyone did or still does own one! If after all this, you’re still confused as to why Anna Delvey is finally the person to make me watch DWTS, OR wondering how Anna could do this show while she’s supposed to be on house arrest? I will let her explain that herself:

Quick Rec of the Week: Black Friend Essays by Ziwe

If you’re unaware of WHO Ziwe is, I highly recommend looking up her (cancelled too soon) Showtime show Ziwe. I absolutely devoured this collection of essays & found myself highlighting a LOT of passages. While I obviously don’t know what it’s like to go through the world as a black woman, BOY do I know the experience of being otherd & constantly having my “exotic look” asked about & borderline interrogated about in pretty much every space I’ve entered that’s predominantly white. I’m half white half Navajo, that’s literally the least exotic mix to North America. 🙄 All this to say-I would highly recommend reading these essays if only to just see another POV.
